Timber and Stone offers a direct path to the US National Forest. right on property. Hike through the center of the valley in the property and you'll stumble upon a 5.5 mile trail loop (Gooch Gap to Piano Ridge).

The forested hills around Dahlonega offer a ton of hiking options — from easy loops like Lake Zwerner Trail to more challenging trails along the Appalachian-Trail corridor. Dahlonega is known for the starting point of the Appalachian Trail.

If guests want water fun, they can go kayaking, canoeing, or tubing on nearby rivers like the Chestatee or Etowah.


Horseback Riding & Biking:

There are equestrian trails nearby and the Jake & Bull Mountain Trail System offers around 36 miles for hikers, bikers, and riders.

Scenery & Atmosphere: 

The area has a rustic-mountain charm with sweeping forested ridge-lines, peaceful valleys, and vineyard-dotted hills. It's quiet enough to feel like a retreat, but also very walkable around parts of town, especially if guests want to stroll downtown, sip wine, or pop into local shops.


Gold Rush History: 

Dahlonega is historic — it was the site of one of the first major gold rushes in the U.S. Visitors can explore the Dahlonega Gold Museum, located in the old 1836 courthouse, which has gold-mining artifacts, panning demonstrations, and a gift shop.

Town Square: 

The downtown area around the historic square has charming shops, galleries, restaurants, and wine tasting rooms. 


Live Theater: 

The Holly Theatre, a restored historic venue in town, hosts plays, musical performances, and community events. Festivals: Dahlonega has a lively calendar — things like Bear on the Square in spring and Gold Rush Days in the fall bring music, history, and local flavor.

Waterfalls: 

You’re surrounded by some of North Georgia’s most stunning waterfalls. Highlights include Amicalola Falls (a 729-foot cascade at a nearby state park), DeSoto Falls, Raven Cliff Falls, and Helton Creek Falls. 


Recreation Areas: R-Ranch - 6 mins away (2.6 miles) - R-Ranch is a wonderful place to relax and unwind with the beauty of Dahlonega.
